There should be laws and regulations for homeschool families and close monitoring. Clearly child neglect was still present in cassies upbringing. I don’t understand how child services didn’t take the child from the mother. The poor girl didn’t stand a chance by being raised by her mother. I just feel like more could have been done about this girl. Cassie may have ran out of the house and then the boyfriend ran after her. Maybe he hit her skittle to hard and then couldn’t stop afterwards. I believe the boyfriend got upset with Cassie for some reason or another and wanted to show her a lesson, maybe discipline, threaten, control, and Cassie wasn’t having any of it. In my opinion, and it’s only speculation. I believe she found that her boyfriend had done something to Cassie and tried to cover it up. I got the feeling that he just took Cassie as a typical teen runaway and maybe she will come back and now that so much time has past I feel the officer just swept it under the rug.Īs for the mother I believe she knows exactly what happened and don’t believe for one second she was in bed sick all night. The police officer that was interviewed didn’t really seem interested in answering questions. I do wish she would have reached out to “cassie’s” close friends, previous neighbors, past boyfriends (mom and daughter), passerby’s (gas station clerk), hunter the friend whom she went to the derby with. However I wish she would put her personal touch to this podcast.Īs far as the reporting I believe she did a good job at reporting the details. I feel the report is only reporting because it’s her job and this is how she was trained in school. A big part of what I wish was in this podcast was emotion. Upon listening I got a sense of the reporter and that she is determined to investigate and report her findings of this case.
I know there is crime everywhere but it is still shocking when you hear it happened in one of the small towns where you live and grew up.
